The Vatican Museums are simply breathtaking! It houses one of the richest art collections in the world, and you encounter a stunning masterpiece in every corridor. The Gallery of Maps and the Raphael Rooms were among my favorites; the craftsmanship on the ceilings and the vibrancy of the colors are truly incredible. The highlight of the visit is, of course, the Sistine Chapel. Seeing Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes and 'The Last Judgment' with your own eyes is a priceless feeling. Also, the spiral staircase (Bramante Staircase) at the exit provides a perfect photo opportunity. A few key tips for visitors: Be sure to book your tickets online weeks in advance; otherwise, the queue at the door is endless. The museum is massive and walking can be tiring, so I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Remember to follow the dress code (shoulders and knees must be covered). If you want to spend an unforgettable day filled with art, this should be at the top of your list. Definitely one of the most memorable stops of my Rome trip!

How to start a good day? By visiting the Vatican Museums of course! For starters, I recommend you booking tickets online specifically the 8AM ones. I am aware it would mean getting ready at 6 to be there early 7 in the morning, but believe me it is the best thing to do. When the gates open you are practically alone inside the museums, my family and I stayed inside the Capella Sistina ALONE for at least 10 minutes, enjoying the art, but not only. And being able to see the sculptures up close without having to shove thousands of people away was absolutely worth the early morning. (If you need some breakfast or coffee, there's some coffee stores already open, but be mindful that some are scams or touristy.) I also recommend truly enjoying the Etruscan and Egyptian (+ the Mesopotamian) museums that lead to the Laocoön sculptures among others. Also as an information, if you have reserved tickets you need to go to the front of where is written "Museu Vaticani", where gateways are separated in 3. It's quite confusing. Thank you for reading! (For transparency it has 4/5 because it is not really elderly, nor wheelchair accessible most of the time, a lot of stairs.)

The amount of wealth in one building is outrageous. The whole place is a jaw dropper. The Cistinne Chapel if you love art will blow you away. Michael Angelos use of colour is amazing.

The Vatican Museums are an absolute must-visit when in Rome and truly one of a kind. From the moment you step inside, it is impossible not to be awed by the sheer beauty and scale of what surrounds you. Every corridor, gallery, and room feels like a masterpiece in its own right, making the experience unforgettable from start to finish. The museums are extremely well organized, especially considering their size and the volume of visitors they receive each day. That said, the crowds can be overwhelming and at times unimaginable, which makes planning ahead essential. If you intend to visit, buying tickets in advance is a must, and opting for a skip-the-line ticket is highly recommended. With pre-booked skip-the-line tickets, entry can take just a few minutes and saves a significant amount of time and frustration. The true reason this place is worth visiting is the extraordinary collection it houses. The Vatican Museums are home to some of the most incredible paintings and sculptures in the world, representing centuries of artistic brilliance and historical significance. Walking through the galleries feels like a journey through the peak of human creativity, culminating in some of the most iconic works ever created. Despite the crowds, the Vatican Museums remain a breathtaking and essential experience in Rome, offering an unparalleled opportunity to witness art, history, and culture at the highest level.

Firstly, get your tickets in advance, as its just not worth to wait for hours in the line. Some say you can show up very early, but that's still a gamble. With advance I mean buy them 1 month ealier otherwise the ticket price will just increase. Get a local guide in person, because the museum is very big and there are too many artefacts, things to see, and the crowd is very big so its not easy to aproach every item and read what it is, or is it worth reading. Is it worth visiting once in a lifetime, of course, but a second time i dont think so. For me personally, its just 2much. Too many people and most of the area is not a 2 way route but you have to walk until you leave a part of the museum, meaning you cant go back, and you can't rest, so you have to keep on walking. I was suprised to see that most of the Greek sculptures are Roman replicas, i.e from the 3rh century, still very old but not the original ones. The paintings are worth going to because they are world famous, the creation of Adam etc. its very interesting to see them in person, and you can stare at the celling for hours if you ask me, but because of the crowd, i just wanted to leave because we got tired of walking. Overal worth visiting, get a ticket in advance, local audio guide in person and go early. Bring small food with you
